My professional background is in computer science and I’ve been leading product & strategy since 2012 after the first stage of my career where I developed software and managed engineering teams. I’ve worked in senior leadership roles at a range of organizations, from small startups to public companies and government, leading highly cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, user researchers, designers, professional services and support staff. You can find a full copy of my resume here.

I’m a builder at heart. I like to hone my skills by developing great products while keeping a beginner’s mindset. You can read more about my thoughts on product development & management, which includes many references to great material put together by wonderful product leaders I’ve followed over the years in Practice of Product. I’ve built an agent-friendly version at https://github.com/seanhorgan/ai-pm.

I care about helping others, particularly those whose basic rights are being challenged and those impacted by poor public policy. Over the years, I volunteered my time with organizations like Human Rights First, Vets for American Ideals, Team Rubicon, Operation White Stork and the Veterans Collaborative, which I co-founded. I developed an application called FastTrack that helped track vaccine distribution during the H1N1 outbreak in 2011 as part of my work with Cosanta. I’m currently a member of the Veterans Advisory Council for Everytown for Gun Safety where I focus on suicide prevention and developed Tracer, a tool to track illegal guns. You can learn more about some of these here in Projects.

I was born in Tralee, Ireland and enlisted in the Marines shortly after getting my green card in the United States. I served for 12 years both in the reserves and on active duty, spending time in places like the arctic circle in Norway and Iraq. I now live in the Boston area with my wife and twins.
